Box Missed...

Last week's box was missed entirely. I was in China and my fried David, despite his best efforts, was unable to locate the drop site. Our box stayed with other unclaimed boxes for disposition at the discretion of the host site family.

According to Two Small Farms, each host gets to choose what to do with boxes left past the pick-up end time. Most use the boxes themselves or share the food with friends.

The following hit the "virtual" compost pile this week:
  • Strawberries
  • Arugula
  • Salad or Romaine Lettuce
  • Purple Radishes
  • Baby "Mini Cor" Carrots (on Wed)
  • Baby Spinach
  • Cauliflower OR Broccoli
  • Thyme
  • "White Tokyo" Turnips
Everything from the previous week is still viable and I'm pleased to report the two bags of mixed greens on hand found their way to my sister's house for consumption.

This weekend I'm in Tucson with some good friends, working my way through someone else's vegetable collection. Tonight we're going to rescue some aging zucchini and summer squash through a Simple Squash and Basil Saute.
